20 People are Officially Dead After an Accident at Breku on the Accra-Kumasi Road
A vehicular accident at Breku on the Kumasi-Accra route has resulted in the official death of twenty people.
The collision reportedly happened on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and involved sprinter buses and Ford vehicles.
According to the police’s preliminary assessment, the driver of the Ford Transit bus with the number GR 6279-24, which was carrying passengers from Konongo to Accra, was speeding when it broke its back tyre. The driver subsequently lost control and collided with VW LT 35 Bus No. AS 4483-23, which was approaching.
Nineteen passengers—eight of whom were female and eight of whom were male—died instantly, and two more passed away after they got to the government hospital in Juaso.Many more are being treated at Konongo Municipal Hospital, Yawkwei’s Stewards Hospital, and Juaso Government Hospital for injuries that could be fatal.

The National Road Safety Authority and the police are working harder at night patrol on the Kumasi-Accra highway, which is one of the accident-prone routes, in an effort to decrease speeding and save lives.Since then, the victims’ bodies have been placed at the Yawkwei mortuary of Stewards Hospital, which is close to Konongo, for identification, preservation, and autopsy.
