70% of Ghanaians Say Mahama Is Leading The Nation to Success – Poll
According to a recent poll, 70% of Ghanaians think President Mahama is leading the country in the right direction.

According to a recent nationwide survey by Global InfoAnalytics, there has been a notable change in popular sentiment, with 70% of Ghanaians now saying they are confident that President John Dramani Mahama is leading the nation in the right way.
National sentiment was generally negative in prior years, so this is a sharp change. A startling 77% of Ghanaians thought the country was going in the wrong direction in October 2022.
In January 2023, this cynicism continued at 71%, and in April 2024, just before the election, it was still strong at 65%. But after taking office again, President Mahama has witnessed an unparalleled increase. A major factor in this change has been the public’s acceptance of Mahama’s leadership. According to a recent Global Info Analytics survey, 84% of Ghanaians are satisfied with his leadership during his first month in office.
With a resounding 90% satisfaction rate, his cabinet choices have also been warmly welcomed. Sixty-eight percent of respondents said they were “very satisfied” or “extremely satisfied” with the initial choices made by his administration.

Mahama became the first politician to win the presidency again after losing an earlier election in January 2025, marking a significant milestone in Ghana’s Fourth Republic. The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) two-term rule under former President Nana Akufo-Addo came to an end when he won 56.3% of the vote, compared to 41.3% for Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
Public trust in the nation’s future is robust despite persistent economic challenges, such as a recent debt crisis and currency depreciation that necessitated a $3 billion IMF rescue. According to the survey, 78% of Ghanaians anticipate an improvement in their standard of life in the upcoming year. Compared to early 2024, when economic issues dominated national debate and discontent levels skyrocketed, especially in the Volta, Greater Accra, and Western regions, this represents a major turnaround.
In addition to economic optimism, Mahama’s government has garnered broad support for its reforms in governance. People who want more transparency in public expenditure have responded well to his pledge to set up an anti-corruption office to supervise government purchases over $5 million.
These results suggest a renewed sense of hope and optimism as Ghana negotiates a new political environment.
