The National Democratic Congress (NDC) vice presidential candidate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has made a sizable donation to the Muslim community in the Central Region as a continuing demonstration of her appreciation for the immense benefits of a setting where inclusivity and diversity, an insane sense of belonging and solidarity among community members of different faiths and backgrounds, festers without any let.

This year is no different from previous years, especially because Muslims all around the world are celebrating Ramadan. She has made a point of showing her affection for people from a variety of backgrounds and religious beliefs.

For Muslims all throughout the world, Ramadan is extremely important both culturally and religiously. Fasting, prayer, introspection, and almsgiving are all part of this period, with a focus on the value of compassion and unity with those who are less fortunate.

She also seems to understand the meaning of Surah Baqarah Ayah 184 and Surah 2, verse 33, which are teachings that motivate her to make giving an annual and unmissable practice.

“Fasting does not only bring individual but national blessings and benefits as prayers are said for the peace, safety and progress of the country,” the former Education Minister said.

She urged the Central Region Chief Imam and other chiefs to fortify ties within their spheres of influence by fostering cultures that foster empathy, compassion, understanding, interfaith solidarity, and mutual respect, where people from all walks of life feel appreciated and encouraged.

In addition to baskets of oranges, pineapples, and watermelons, she also provided 12 bags of maize and beans, 100 bags of sugar, 14 boxes of tea, 100 cartons of milk, 50 boxes of bottled water, and 100 bags of sachet water.

A representative of the Chief Imam of the Central Region accepted the products and thanked her for her ongoing kindness, stating that it is very significant to the Muslim community.

John Mahama’s running mate and her group were hailed by Regional Chief Iman for the donation and ongoing support and help the Muslim community and offered prayers for her

Prior to this, Osabarima Kwesi Atta XI, the Oguaa Manhen, received a courtesy call from Professor Opoku-Agyemang at his Eminstimadze palace.

Since she was in the Central Region and following protocol, she chose to let the Omanhen know that she was there and took the chance to ask him how he was doing.

Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang will publicly announce and introduce her party’s decision to renominate her as its vice presidential candidate for the 2020 general elections to the Omanhen at a later date.
