The “1 Village, 1 Dam” Project at Tempane Results in the Deaths of Two People

A “1 Village, 1 Dam” project in the Tempane District in the Upper East Region resulted in the deaths of two people by drowning.

The event took place on March 23, 2024, a Saturday.

In a phone call, Adam Asaana, the Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), stated that an 11-year-old child had become the first person to drown in one of Tuboung’s dams, requiring the community’s youth and NADMO officials to launch a rescue effort. A thirty-year-old guy was also swept away by the flood during this operation.

In the meantime, Simon Moyom Laar, the local assembly member, voiced his displeasure and called the circumstances regrettable over the phone.

After being discovered in the water, the deceased people’s bodies have been turned over to the police so they may take the appropriate action.

Hundreds of mourners, including opinion leaders, chiefs, and residents of nearby Kpikpira settlements in the Tempane District, turned out in response to the situation.
