Rakim Mayers, better known as rapper A$AP Rocky, was found not guilty of shooting his ex-friend Terell Ephron during a purported dispute on November 6, 2021. The hip-hop artist was cleared by a Los Angeles jury of two felony assault counts, which carried a maximum 24-year jail term.

When the first not-guilty decision was read, the courtroom erupted in applause. Overwhelmed by emotion, A$AP Rocky jumped over a wooden barrier to greet his family and longtime partner, Rihanna, who came to the trial with their two young children, Riot and RZA. As the second not-guilty verdict was delivered, the rapper, who was clearly crying, also gave his legal team a hug.

Expressing gratitude, A$AP Rocky declared, “Thank God for saving my life,” and personally thanked the 12-member jury for their decision.

Terell Ephron, better known as A$AP Relli, and A$AP Rocky got into a violent argument outside a hotel in Hollywood, which led to the case. The rapper allegedly drew a gun from his waistband, pointed it at Ephron, and fired several shots, one of which reportedly grazed his knuckles. A$AP Rocky’s defense team countered that the firearm in question was a toy gun and charged Ephron with using the accusations to further his financial interests.

Ephron’s testimony was mostly relied upon by the prosecution, however there were contradictions in his story that cast doubt on it. Two days later, he reported the event and showed shell casings that he said he had recovered from the location. Nevertheless, no casings had been discovered at the scene by the responding police, and no surveillance footage supported Ephron’s account of what happened. His assertions are further complicated by the fact that he didn’t seek medical attention until after he returned to New York.

Intense conversations characterized the judicial proceedings, especially when Ephron was testifying. He once referred to A$AP Rocky’s lawyer as “annoying,” which caused the judge to reprimand him. When fellow rapper A$AP Twelvyy was questioned over a mysterious message on A$AP Rocky’s furniture, it was another tense moment. A$AP Rocky interrupted him before he could reply, telling him not to answer, which is not often done in court.

A$AP Rocky is ready to concentrate on his profession now that the trial is over. In March 2025, he will co-headline the Rolling Loud festival in Los Angeles and release his first solo album in almost ten years. He will also co-star with Denzel Washington in *Highest 2 Lowest*, a movie directed by Spike Lee that will be released in the

This high-profile case has captivated fans and legal analysts alike, adding another chapter to A$AP Rocky’s complex journey in both music and legal battles.
