Actress Martha Ankomah has taken legal action against popular Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, also known as Lil Win, for allegedly making disparaging remarks about her.

In a viral video, Lil Win can be heard insulting Ankomah, claiming that she refused to work with Kumawood stars because she considers their movies nonsensical. Lil Win also downplayed Ankomah’s significance in the film industry.

An angered Lil Win’s comments prompted Ankomah to file a defamation suit at an Accra High Court on February 14. She is seeking damages totaling GH¢5 million, along with a public apology and retraction of the defamatory statements with equal prominence.

“Damages in the sum of GH¢5 million for the defamatory statements made by Defendant. Compensatory damages for the damage done to the reputation of Plaintiff. Aggravated damages for the reckless and malicious publication of the defamatory words. An order directing the Defendant to publish an apology and a retraction of the said defamatory words with the same prominence.”

Lil Win has been served with a directive to respond within eight days. Failure to do so may result in judgment being passed against him in his absence, without further notice.
