In a significant gesture of support for education, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has donated GH₵500,000 to the Ga Education Fund. This contribution aims to aid the education of underprivileged Ga children and underscores the Asantehene’s commitment to fostering educational opportunities across Ghana.
The announcement was made during a grand durbar held in honor of the Asantehene by the Ga State, led by the Ga Mantse, Nii Teiko Tsuru II. Speaking through his interpreter, the Asantehene stated, “I want to donate an amount of GH₵500,000 to the Ga Education Fund to help in the education of less-privileged Ga children.”
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed his deep appreciation for the hospitality extended by the Ga State and highlighted the vital importance of unity among Ghanaians. He emphasized the need for collaboration between the Ga and Ashanti people, as well as among all chiefs, to promote collective progress. “The people of Ga and Ashanti must unite to develop our peoples. All Ga chiefs must unite behind Nii Teiko Tsuru II. Unity and development must be our focus in the interest of our children,” the Asantehene remarked.
Addressing the broader role of chieftaincy in contemporary society, the Asantehene advocated for a shift from territorial disputes to development-focused leadership. “The current fight should be for development to benefit future generations,” he noted.
