Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia received a warm and encouraging reception from the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs during his ongoing tour of the Ashanti Region.
On Monday afternoon, the traditional leaders hosted Dr. Bawumia in Kumasi, where they offered him prayers and expressed support for his presidential aspirations
During the meeting, Dr. Bawumia presented his comprehensive vision and policy plans to the chiefs and queen mothers.
Highlighting the achievements of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government since 2017, he detailed his significant contributions, especially in driving digital transformation and economic policies. Dr. Bawumia elaborated on his future plans. The chiefs and queen mothers responded positively to Dr. Bawumia’s presentation. They appreciated his focus on digital policies and his proposal to amend the Chieftaincy Act, which aims to restore more authority to traditional leaders. This proposal resonated well with the chiefs, who see it as a way to strengthen their roles in governance.
The Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, speaking on behalf of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, praised Dr. Bawumia’s vision and his efforts to include the private sector in government projects.
He noted that such involvement could significantly boost sectors like railways.In his closing remarks, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II assured Dr. Bawumia of the chiefs’ support and prayers.
“We are all asking the Almighty God to be behind you and help you. We are very grateful to you, and we shall inform Otumfuo about what transpired here today before you meet him on Wednesday,” he said.
