Ashanti Region: Assailants Kill Woman and Sexually Assault her Corpse

Two individuals, Kelvin Gyamfi and Samuel Addai, are currently in police custody for reportedly raping the corpse of a 36-year-old woman after she was murdered in her home in Sene Bokankye, located in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects are said to have committed this heinous act during a burglary at the deceased’s residence. According to reports, the victim was asleep when the assailants entered her room, located in an unfinished building, and struck her head twice with a cement block, resulting in her death.

Following the discovery of her lifeless body, Gyamfi and Addai allegedly took turns sexually assaulting her before fleeing the scene with her mobile phone and an amount of GH₵42.00.

These are the known details of the case at present.

On February 8, 2024, neighbors of the deceased discovered her naked body in a pool of blood within her room. Her son, upon returning from school, raised the alarm after finding her in the distressing state.

Upon closer inspection by the police, the victim’s body exhibited deep cuts on her left ear, with the forehead showing signs of blunt force trauma, and blood seeping from her ear and nostrils. Additionally, semen was discovered around her genital area.

Subsequently, the deceased’s body was transported to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for autopsy and preservation.

The autopsy report revealed severe head injuries, blunt force trauma, and signs of sexual assault.

The suspects confessed to the police that they had visited the deceased’s residence to smoke marijuana before deciding to burglarize her room.

Detective Inspector Abdul-Wahab Yusif Seoune of the Abuakwa Police led investigations and traced the stolen phone and SIM card to the two leading to their arrest.

On March 17, 2024, Samuel Addai was arrested at Atwima Bokankye but his accomplice managed to escape, and was later arrested from his hide-out at Medie-Accra two days later.

The two appeared before the Akropong District Magistrate court where they were charged provisionally with conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
