Attorney-General Announces April Prosecution Date for National Service and Sky Train Scandals

Prosecutions in the National Service and Sky Train corruption cases will start by the middle of April 2025, according to Attorney-General and Justice Minister Dr. Dominic Ayine. Suspects are eagerly collaborating, he said, and investigations are nearing their conclusion.
Eight people have already been questioned, and many of them have given vital information to support the legal processes, Dr. Ayine revealed during a press event on Monday, March 24, 2025.
“Investigations into both the National Service and Sky Train scandals will be concluded by mid-April, after which prosecutions will officially begin,” he stated.
To inform the public on the government’s anti-corruption campaign, known as “Operation Recover All Loot” (ORAL), a news conference was arranged. Two former New Patriotic Party (NPP) appointees have already been arrested as a result of this initiative, Dr. Ayine disclosed.
Records of questionable payments made by private suppliers to high-ranking executives are among the allegedly significant evidence that investigators have obtained. In an effort to stifle media coverage of the affair, a current Member of Parliament (MP) is also accused of accepting payments.
“We now have verifiable evidence of payments made to top National Service executives by private vendors linked to the scheme,” Dr. Ayine added.
According to Dr. Ayine’s disclosure regarding the Sky Train issue, Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), allegedly requested the payment of GH¢2 million.
Furthermore, GIIF CEO Solomon Asamoah is allegedly in Senegal and has pledged to return to Ghana within three months in order to face legal action.
“Despite the controversy surrounding the Sky Train project, we can confirm that GH¢2 million was paid at the request of the GIIF Chairman. Meanwhile, the CEO, Solomon Asamoah, is currently in Senegal,” Dr. Ayine disclosed.
With prosecutions set to commence in April, the Attorney-General assured Ghanaians that justice would be served and that all misappropriated public funds would be recovered.
