Boxing Hall of Famer Azumah Nelson recently wrapped up the inaugural edition of his “Zoom Zoom Clinics,” a juvenile boxing and mentorship program aimed at inspiring Ghana’s youth. The final session of this impactful initiative was held at Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC) in Accra, marking the culmination of a series of engagements that spanned two months.

Throughout the clinics, Nelson and his team traveled to various schools across Tamale, Kumasi, and Takoradi, reaching students aged 12-18 with valuable lessons drawn from his illustrious career. The initiative aimed to mentor the next generation of leaders, encouraging them to adopt principles that would help them succeed in life.

At the final session in PRESEC, Nelson emphasized the importance of seven key principles that he credited for his success: time management, honesty and respect, good preparation and discipline, avoiding drugs, hard work and determination, never giving up, and faith in God. He likened life to boxing, reminding the students that despite the inevitable knocks and setbacks, discipline, faith in God, and perseverance would lead them to their goals.

The event also featured an interactive quiz on Nelson’s principles, which added a fun and engaging element to the session. Nestor Kabutey, a second-year Science student, emerged as the quiz winner, taking home a GH₵3,000 cash prize. Other students who participated also received prizes, fostering a spirit of enthusiasm and motivation among the attendees.
