Bawumia Pledges Ideas-Focused Campaign Over Insults
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has committed to centering his campaign on tackling social and economic issues affecting Ghanaians, rather than engaging in a campaign of insults.
During a meeting with Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV at his palace in Wa on Sunday, May 19, Dr. Bawumia assured that he would honor the chief’s advice to conduct a respectful and proper campaign without insults.
“I am very much guided by your advice, which aligns with my approach of sharing ideas without insulting anyone. This has been my strategy throughout my campaign. Our message to Ghanaians will focus on what I plan to do as president and what our government has accomplished, asking for their support to progress further,” Dr. Bawumia stated.

He also called on Wa Naa and his people to support him in the upcoming December 7 general elections, positioning himself as a viable alternative to his main opponent, John Dramani Mahama.
“Both myself and my main opponent, John Dramani Mahama, are from the North. He has already served as president, but I have not. I have told him, as my senior brother, to be patient and let me have the opportunity to serve as president. I can serve for eight years, while he can only serve for four more years.
Therefore, if the presidency is to return to the North, it should be for eight years rather than just four,” Bawumia emphasized.
