Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has proposed Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known as NAPO, as his running mate to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to sources from the presidency reported by Citi News, Bawumia consulted with President Akufo-Addo and received his guidance and endorsement on the choice.
Dr. Bawumia highlighted that Dr. Opoku Prempeh is a 56-year-old medical doctor who graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

He has been a member of Parliament since 2008, with subsequent re-elections in 2012, 2016, and 2020. There has been significant support within the NPP for Dr. Opoku Prempeh as Bawumia’s running mate for the upcoming December elections, as indicated by various polls among party executives.
