Bishop Salifu Amoako Addresses East Legon Accident Controversy Amid National AttentionBishop Salifu Amoako Addresses East Legon Accident Controversy Amid National Attention, the prominent clergyman at the center of a tragic accident in East Legon on October 12, has expressed that the incident has garnered national attention primarily due to his name. Speaking to his congregation on October 20, he remarked that if the accident had involved an “Okada” rider instead, it likely would not have received the same level of scrutiny.

During his sermon, Bishop Amoako emphasized that the incident was simply an accident, clarifying that his son, Elrad Salifu Amoako, did not cause harm intentionally. “It is an accident. My son did not carry a gun to kill somebody. He was involved in a terrible accident, and I am not the one who did it. It is because of my name that this thing is going everywhere,” he stated. He urged the church members to refrain from further discussion, suggesting that the focus should be on what God intends to do regarding the situation.

On the fateful day, 16-year-old Elrad was driving a Jaguar SUV when he collided with a 4×4 Acura vehicle driven by Joseph Ackah, which had four other occupants. The impact was severe, leading both vehicles to catch fire and become unrecognizable. Following the accident, both Bishop Amoako and his wife, Mouha Amoako, were arrested and charged with allowing an unlicensed person to operate a vehicle.

The Bishop had previously issued an apology in a video that gained traction on social media. His recent comments have drawn mixed reactions from the public. While some church members find his explanation reasonable, others believe he has overstepped, particularly since the case is still ongoing in the legal system.

The incident continues to stir conversations within the community, raising questions about accountability and the consequences of allowing unlicensed individuals to drive. As the case unfolds, it remains a focal point of discussion across various media platforms and among the congregation.
