In a recent interview, Ghanaian media personality and musician Blakk Rasta revealed that he turned down an offer of American citizenship from former U.S. President Barack Obama during his visit to Ghana.

Speaking on Property FM, Blakk Rasta explained his deep commitment to his homeland as the reason behind his decision to stay.

According to Blakk Rasta, accepting the offer would have meant forsaking his responsibilities to Ghana, which he believes he was divinely appointed to serve. “When Obama came to Ghana, he offered me the opportunity to become an American citizen.

But I told him that if I accepted, God would punish me. I was brought here to contribute to my country, and running away to America would be abandoning that duty,” he stated. Blakk Rasta emphasized his resolve to stay and make a difference in Ghana. “I decided that no, I won’t accept it. If I have refused such an offer, I must speak out about the issues facing our country. Otherwise, there is no point in staying.”

He expressed frustration with the political landscape in Ghana, attributing many of the country’s problems to corruption and mismanagement. “Our problems stem largely from politicians who view their roles as opportunities to loot rather than to serve and develop the country. It angers me because I have young children, and it hurts to think they will grow up and inherit a troubled economy,” he lamented.

Blakk Rasta’s decision reflects his dedication to advocating for change and improvement in Ghana, despite the personal allure of opportunities abroad.
