The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) and the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC) have voiced their deep displeasure at being left out of the forthcoming National Education Forum, which will be held in Ho, Volta Region. Concerns have been raised by both groups over the lack of participation by important educational stakeholders in the national discourse, highlighting the significance of an inclusive approach in formulating Ghana’s educational policies.

The GCBC and CCG denounced their absence from what they described as a crucial event for Ghana’s educational future in a joint statement issued on February 18, 2025. They maintained that the absence of their involvement jeopardizes the cooperative efforts necessary for significant reforms and the creation of an educational system that benefits all individuals, irrespective of their background or

“As key contributors to the education sector, particularly through our schools, we are perplexed by the omission of our input in a discussion that directly affects the future of education in the country,” the statement noted.

Both groups underlined their longstanding dedication to offering high-quality education as well as their wish to help shape laws that support Ghanaian ideals and goals. The Ministry of Education was urged by the GCBC and CCG to reevaluate their exclusion and invite all pertinent parties, such as parents, teachers, and religious organizations. They emphasized how crucial it is to include all interested parties in the national conversation on education since their combined opinions are vital in establishing laws that meet the demands of the general public.

In closing, the Christian bodies reaffirmed their commitment to engaging in constructive dialogue for the betterment of education in Ghana. They expressed hope that their call for inclusion would be heard and acted upon, ensuring that the education policies developed are truly inclusive and reflect the diverse perspectives within the country.
