The $145 million Borteyman Sports Complex, a recently completed facility in Ghana, has unexpectedly begun to host church services just three months after it served as a venue for the 2023 African Games.

NSA officials were reportedly shocked to find out that the visit was turned into a church service, an activity they had not sanctioned. This misuse of the facility did not sit well with several non-Christian students who participated in the supposed ‘SRC Fun Trip.’ They expressed their dissatisfaction with the unexpected transformation of the trip into a religious event.

The incident, which occurred on June 1, 2024, led to the SRC issuing an apology letter, a copy of which was obtained by Joy Sports. When approached for a comment, the NSA acknowledged their awareness of the incident from the start and mentioned that an investigation was ongoing to address the issue.

The Borteyman Sports Complex is an expansive facility featuring a 1,000-seater capacity swimming pool and a multipurpose sports hall that can accommodate 1,000 spectators. This hall is designed for various sports including basketball, badminton, netball, table tennis, and weightlifting. Additionally, the complex houses a 500-seater temporary dome intended for sports like handball, volleyball, judo, karate, taekwondo, and arm-wrestling, as well as a five-court tennis complex.
