CLOGSAG Strike Disrupts Business Registrations, Leaves Applicants Stranded
The ongoing strike by the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has caused significant disruption at the Registrar General’s Department in Accra. Many individuals seeking to register or renew their businesses were left stranded and disappointed due to the halted services.
CLOGSAG members initiated the industrial action in response to the government’s failure to implement a new salary structure that was approved by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission over a year and a half ago. The impasse continues despite the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at resolving the issue.
Frustrated applicants shared their grievances with Channel One News. One applicant recounted, “I’ve been here for over 30 minutes. I came yesterday to file our annual registration but faced some issues, so I had to return today. I noticed red banners yesterday but didn’t realize it signaled a strike.”

Another applicant expressed their concern, stating, “This morning, I learned they are striking because the government hasn’t resolved some pension issues with the Registrar General’s Department and other Ministries. It’s been about two years since they went to the negotiation table, and the government has been unresponsive. We urge the government to address these issues promptly so that business operations can resume.”
The strike highlights the growing tensions between civil service staff and the government, urging a swift resolution to prevent further disruption.
