Court Dismisses Injunction Request for #DumsorMustStop Vigil
The High Court in Accra has dismissed an injunction request aimed at stopping the organizers of the #DumsorMustStop vigil from gathering at Revolution Square, opposite the Jubilee House.
This decision came after it was revealed that the organizers had already changed their gathering point and route for the vigil.
Earlier, the conveners had disagreed with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command on the protest’s starting location.
The police subsequently filed an injunction, arguing that the original location was too close to a security installation.
In court on Friday, May 24, the case was withdrawn due to the amended venue for the vigil.

Selorm Dramani Dzramado, one of the vigil’s conveners, informed the media that they chose to amend the venue in accordance with the Public Order Act. He explained, “We chose Revolution Square for its historical significance and proximity to the Presidency.
However, in compliance with Article 41(i) of the Constitution, which requires citizens to cooperate with lawful agencies to maintain law and order, we notified the police of the change in venue and date.”
He added that the court has yet to approve the new plans for the vigil, and there will be a meeting with the police to restart the process.
