Donald Trump Sworn in as 47th U.S. President, Promises a “Golden Age of America”

Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on Monday after becoming the second person in history to win a nonconsecutive term in the White House Four years after losing to Joe Biden.

Donald Trump was president from 2017 to 2021. He completed a remarkable political comeback by defeating Kamala Harris in the November election.

The inauguration event was held within the US Capitol Rotunda. The new indoor setup was insufficient to accommodate the thousands of people who had tickets to attend the concert outside. Instead, Trump urged his followers to watch the event live at Capital One Arena in Washington.

He declared, “The golden age of America begins right now,” in his first speech after taking office as president again.

Donald Trump pointed out several major initiatives:

Immigration and Border Security: Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border to curb illegal immigration and deport criminal offenders. He pledged to reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” policy and deploy troops to strengthen border security.

Energy Independence: The President emphasise the relevance of tapping into America’s vast oil and gas reserves to reduce energy costs, rebuild strategic reserves, and solidify the U.S. as a global energy leader.

Trade and Economy: Trump announced plans to revamp the trade system by imposing tariffs on foreign nations to benefit American workers. He also introduced the creation of the External Revenue Service to oversee tariff collection.

Government Efficiency and Free Speech: A new Department of Government Efficiency will be established to improve federal operations. Additionally, Trump plans to sign an executive order to eliminate government censorship and protect free speech.

Social Policies: His administration will advocate for a merit-based, colorblind society, officially recognizing only two genders—male and female. Also, service members dismissed for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine will be reinstated with back pay.

Foreign Policy and Space Exploration: Trump disclosed plans to reclaim the Panama Canal and announced an ambitious mission to send American astronauts to Mars, continuing the country’s legacy of space exploration.

The ceremony was attended by former Presidents Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Biden, alongside Vice President Harris. Prominent business and technology leaders, including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos, were also present.

Trump ended his speech with a call for national unity and a promise to make America “prosperous, strong, and free,” ushering in a new era for the country.
