Dr. Louisa Ansong-Satekla Named Global Ambassador for World Oral Health Day 2025

Dr. Louisa Ansong-Satekla, a renowned Ghanaian dentist and public health advocate, has been appointed as the Global Ambassador for World Oral Health Day 2025 (WOHD) by the FDI World Dental Federation. Her dedication to raising awareness of oral health issues worldwide is further demonstrated by the fact that she has been in this esteemed position for four years running.

The goal of the WOHD 2025 campaign, which has as its subject “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind,” is to inform people about the close connection between oral health and general wellbeing. In order to prevent systemic disorders, lower stress levels, and increase self-esteem, the program urges people to emphasize good oral hygiene.

Dr. Ansong-Satekla will spearhead efforts to emphasize the importance of oral health in maintaining mental and physical resilience. Speaking about her role, she stated, “Taking care of your mouth goes beyond just aesthetics. It’s a crucial step in enhancing self-confidence, minimizing health risks, and fostering overall wellness. Regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups are essential acts of self-care.”

Dr. Ansong-Satekla will concentrate on closing the accessibility gap for oral healthcare in her ambassadorial role, especially in underprivileged areas. In order to raise awareness and promote preventive dental care, she plans to implement educational efforts, community outreach activities, and digital campaigns.

The FDI World Dental Federation expressed its enthusiasm for Dr. Ansong-Satekla’s continued involvement, acknowledging her passion and expertise in the field. “Her leadership has been instrumental in shaping the success of our campaigns. With #WOHD25, we are not just advocating for better oral hygiene but inspiring a global movement that underscores the integral connection between a healthy mouth and a healthy mind,” the federation stated.

The chief dentist at Ghana’s Charisma Dental Clinic, a well-known hub for cutting-edge dental treatment and public health instruction, is Dr. Ansong-Satekla. The Ghana Outstanding Women Awards (GOWA) 2021, Pulse Health Influencer of the Year, and Health Personality of the Year at the 2022 Women’s Choice Awards Africa are just a few of the many honors she has received for her commitment to oral health promotion. She also represents GC Brand and Verna Mineral Water as an ambassador.

Dr. Ansong-Satekla keeps making major progress in promoting preventative dental care in Ghana and worldwide with her media-driven campaigns and community-based workshops. Her position as a global spokesperson is expected to motivate people and communities to take proactive measures to maintain excellent oral health as WOHD 2025 draws near.
