Dr. Omane Boamah Resigns as NDC Elections Director for New Role
Dr. Omane Boamah Steps Down as NDC Elections Director Ahead of Defence Minister Appointment

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Director of Elections and Information Technology, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, has declared his intention to resign as the Defense Minister-designate.
This action resolves worries over a possible conflict of interest in his new position as minister. Dr. Omane Boamah indicated during his screening on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, that talks to choose his successor are already underway.
He told the Appointments Committee, “After internal discussion, we have found a qualified replacement, whom we will recommend to the Financial Executive Committee.”
In response to questions from committee members about whether his political position could affect his ability to act impartially as Defense Minister, he made his comments.
“No Ghanaian should have any concerns about my impartiality,” he informed the committee.
