Electoral Commission Announces 2024 Ballot Allocation Update for 20 Polling Stations

ELECTION 2024 : Ghana's 2024 Certified Voters Register to Be Finalized by November 1, EC Confirms

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced adjustments to the ballot paper allocations for 20 polling stations ahead of the 2024 general elections, following recent reviews and legal directives. This update, shared in a press release on October 28, includes a mandate to print additional ballot booklets for these stations to ensure adequate supplies on election day.

This revision is the result of comprehensive evaluations conducted by District Registration Review Officers (DRROs) and High Court rulings, all aimed at refining the integrity of the upcoming electoral process.

The changes reflect the EC’s ongoing response to feedback received from the re-exhibition of the 2024 Provisional Voters Register, an exercise allowing citizens and stakeholders to verify voter data and highlight any issues needing correction. By aligning ballot allocations with verified data, the EC aims to address any discrepancies discovered during voter registration and ensure a smooth voting experience.

The EC’s statement emphasized the importance of transparency and collaboration with political parties, independent candidates, and printing firms. It also stressed the EC’s commitment to upholding public trust through its approach to election management.

“The Electoral Commission announces for the information of the General Public that, following the implementation of the decisions of the District Registration Review Officers (DRROs) and the High Courts as well as the revisions made after the Re-Exhibition of the Provisional Voters Register, there have been slight revisions to the 2024 Ballot Statistics submitted to the Political Parties and the Printing Firms.”

A detailed schedule of the affected polling stations has been provided for public review, and the revised ballot allocations have been officially communicated to political parties, independent candidates, and relevant printing firms to ensure adequate preparation.
