EC to Start Voter ID Card Replacement on May 30 for 2024 Elections
The Electoral Commission (EC) has revealed plans to initiate the replacement of voter ID cards from Thursday, May 30, to Friday, June 14.
Concurrently, the transfer of votes and applications for proxy voting will be accommodated within the same period. These operations will be conducted at EC district offices, selected electoral areas, and public universities.It’s essential to highlight that it constitutes a criminal offense for a guarantor to vouch for more than 10 individuals, non-Ghanaians, or persons under 18 years of age.To prepare for the December 2024 elections, the Electoral Commission (EC) had earlier announced its intentions to update the voter register.

This process is scheduled to commence on May 7 and finish on May 27, 2024. The primary objective is to incorporate newly eligible voters, particularly those who have recently turned 18, into the voter registry. Furthermore, individuals over 18 who haven’t registered for a voter’s ID card will have the opportunity to do so during this period.
