Elder S.K Ampiah has Passed Away at Age 99

Elder Samuel Kofi Ampiah, a respected composer from Ghana associated with the Apostolic Church-Ghana, has passed away at 99. His death occurred on Sunday, March 31, 2024, with the church announcing it on Wednesday.

Elder S.K Ampiah served as an Elder for over six decades within the Apostolic Church-Ghana, contributing as a minister and composer of numerous Pentecostal hymns. Notably, his compositions such as “Sɛ w’ahu Yesu a ma ne nwuma pa no ntena wo mu,” “Mo mma yɛn mma Yesu mo,” “Awurade gyina m’akyi,” and “Yesu ne wu na” are cherished by many.

The Apostolic Church-Ghana expressed condolences to his family. Additionally, Elder S.K Ampiah, a senior citizen of Ghana, disclosed in an interview with CitiTube that he composed many commonly sung gospel songs in the country. He began composing at 12, showcasing his musical talent early on, and later introduced melodic music to the Apostolic Church.

Despite not registering his songs, he continued to contribute significantly to the church’s music repertoire, even producing a book containing 209 of his compositions.
