Election 2024: Electoral Commission Begins Nationwide Distribution of Ballot Papers

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has commenced the nationwide distribution of ballot papers on Thursday, November 14, 2024, as part of its comprehensive preparation for the upcoming general election on December 7.
This distribution schedule was formally communicated to the General Secretaries of political parties through a letter dated November 13, detailing the plan for staggered delivery across the country.
The distribution process kicks off with the Greater Accra Region, followed by the Central, Western, Savannah, and Upper West regions on Friday, November 15. On Saturday, November 16, the Ashanti, Ahafo, and Western North regions will receive their respective ballot papers. This systematic rollout represents a crucial phase of the EC’s preparations, which have included finalizing the voter register, allocating polling stations, and providing specialized training to election officers.
Upon arrival in each region, the ballot papers will be securely stored in police facilities to ensure their safety until election day. On the morning of December 7, ballot papers will be handed over to EC officials in the presence of political party representatives, reinforcing the commitment to a transparent process.
The EC has emphasized the stringent security protocols in place to prevent unauthorized access or tampering, underscoring its dedication to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. With these measures, the EC aims to reassure Ghanaians that every vote cast will be securely managed and fairly counted, upholding the democratic values central to Ghana’s electoral system.
