Ex-SIC Chief Sues Over Shocking Dismissal & Unfair Firing
Former SIC Managing Director Files Lawsuit Over Termination

The former Managing Director of SIC Insurance Company Limited, Ms. Hollistar Duah-Yentumi, has taken legal action against her former employer and her replacement, Mr. James Agyenim-Boateng. The lawsuit, filed on February 4, 2025, contests her abrupt dismissal and the appointment of a new MD.
President John Dramani Mahama announced the appointment of Mr. Agyenim-Boateng as SIC’s new Managing Director on January 27, 2025. However, Ms. Duah-Yentumi argues that her contract, which commenced on January 1, 2024, was set for a four-year term, expiring on January 1, 2028, unless extended by mutual agreement with the Board of Directors.
The lawsuit claims that the appointment of Mr. Agyenim-Boateng as her replacement was unlawful and requests a High Court decision declaring her dismissal null and invalid. Additionally, Ms. Duah-Yentumi’s attorneys are requesting full recompense, which includes salary and perks for the balance of her contract. Her right to full compensation until the end of her term is emphasised in the legal file, which details the financial rights specified in paragraphs 11 and 12 of the contract.
This lawsuit raises significant questions about corporate governance, employment contracts, and executive terminations within Ghana’s financial sector. The case is expected to draw significant attention as it progresses through the legal system.
