Their vehicle, a Toyota Rav 4, encountered workers on the disputed land upon arrival. They attempted to halt the activities and initiate further complaints at the police station, but their efforts were interrupted by the Gyasehene of Millennium City, Benlord Ababio.
Despite the officers’ intentions to proceed to the Divisional Command for assistance, Ababio, allegedly, insisted they refrain from doing so. Disregarding his plea, the officers continued their journey, prompting Ababio to open fire from behind, tragically claiming the life of one officer.
An eyewitness, recounting the harrowing events, described how the chief’s intervention culminated in the fatal shooting. Following the incident, Ababio was promptly apprehended and handed over to authorities, who subsequently transferred him to the Accra Division for his safety amid concerns of retaliation from the area’s landguards.
