Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has stepped up efforts to interact with common Ghanaians, especially market vendors and workers in the unorganized sector, in order to learn about their expectations and worries regarding the economy as the much-anticipated 2025 Budget Presentation draws near on March 11.

Dr. Forson spoke with market women, traders, and head porters (kayayei) at Makola Market, one of Ghana’s biggest commercial centers, on March 7. These conversations highlighted a number of urgent issues, such as the rising cost of conducting business, excessive taxes, and the cedi’s depreciation, which still affects livelihoods.

“It was an honor to engage with these hardworking Ghanaians who contribute immensely to our economy,” Dr. Forson stated after the visit. “Their insights and expectations for #Budget2025 will help shape a future that works for all.”

The Finance Minister is using social media to broaden the conversation in addition to his face-to-face meetings. To give Ghanaians a forum to directly express their views, he has planned a live conversation on X Spaces for today, March 9.

“This budget is about building a stronger future for everyone. Let’s discuss the issues that matter most to you!” he posted, urging citizens to participate in the conversation.

Inflation, unemployment, and small business support are among the major national issues that are anticipated to be addressed in the incoming 2025 budget. The administration hopes to make sure that policy choices reflect the demands of common Ghanaians through these engagements.
