GFA’s GSCE Gets Massive Upgrade

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is redeveloping the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) at Prampram into a state-of-the-art training facility. It is 70% complete and this is welcome news for Ghana football.
This construction of the new multi-purpose hall and gymnasium is going step by step according to the timeline.

This August 2024-launched project, spearheaded by GFA President Kurt Okraku and which had a sod-cutting ceremony, is being funded through a combination of FIFA Forward Programme funding as well as internally generated resources. When completed, the complex will have a state-of-the-art gymnasium, a futsal centre, as well as a swimming pool, and represents an entirely installed sports and rehabilitation center for national teams and others utilizing the GSCE.

The renovations are expected to enhance sporting performance, training, and recovery. Apart from the gymnasium complex, renovations on two other natural grass pitches are ongoing as well. Upon completion, the GSCE will have three natural turfs and two synthetic pitches, one of them floodlit, in addition to the existing facilities.

Super-stylish floodlights have already been fixed for round-the-clock training. A 40-bed national team accommodation complex is also being constructed to provide players with good living conditions at training camps.

Since 2019, the technical centre has also undergone a massive transformation, with four dormitories, an admin block, changing rooms, and a number of football pitches. The latest additions are set to further cement the GSCE as a hub for football development in Ghana that will cater to elite and up-and-coming talents.

Through youth development programs such as the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, which has been known to make football better in many nations, Black Stars’ performance in the future is expected to improve.

The Ghana Premier League is also likely to experience an improvement based on the calibre of players as the talents are being nurtured through this centre. The domestic talents are expected to be tapped in order to mix with that of foreign-based players to create diversity in Ghana’s football industry. The future of Ghana’s football can be turned for good through this facility.
