Ghana and the Bahamas sign a visa waiver agreement for passport holders
The Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration have inked a visa waiver agreement. According to a February 20 circular from the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), the waiver is intended to prevent difficulties and annoyances that unsuspecting visitors may encounter while travelling between Ghana and the Bahamas
In May, 2023 the two nations agreed to enhance their collaboration by implementing a visa-free arrangement for all passport holders from both nations. Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, accompanied by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister for Information, and Yofi Grant, CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), engaged in discussions with Bahamas Prime Minister Philip Davis and First Lady Ann Marie Davis. The meetings focused on reviewing bilateral relations, addressing issues of connectivity, and establishing a visa exemption system.
“In accordance with the note, the Bahamas Government wishes to inform the pertinent, competent aviation authorities, airlines, and services in Ghana about the signed agreement.” The aforementioned information must be noted by all OICs of entry and points, as well as pertinent sections, and they must respond appropriately.
