Ghana Confirms 2 New Mpox Cases, Total Now 4
Mpox Outbreak in Ghana: Confirmed Cases Rise to Four as Health Authorities Tighten Preventive Measures

Two more Mpox cases have been confirmed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), bringing the total number of infections in the nation to four. Officials said there is no known epidemiological link between the two previously reported cases and these new infections, which were found in the Greater Accra and Western Regions.
The GHS has responded quickly to this development and is now actively attempting to contain the virus and stop its spread throughout the community. Public health procedures, such as comprehensive contact tracing, patient isolation, and sensitisation campaigns, have been initiated, according to a statement released by Prof. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, the Director-General of the GHS.
The public is being urged by the GHS to stay vigilant and follow fundamental preventive measures. It is recommended that citizens avoid direct physical contact with people who have rashes or flu-like symptoms, wash their hands often with soap under running water or use alcohol-based sanitisers, and get medical help right away if they exhibit any of the following symptoms: fever, headaches, muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, or rashes.
Close contact with sick people, animals, or contaminated objects and surfaces can spread the zoonotic viral illness mpox. The virus can nevertheless provide major health hazards even if it is less widespread than smallpox, especially in settings where early discovery and reporting are delayed.
Media outlets have been urged by the Ministry of Health and the GHS to assist national public health initiatives by providing correct information on Mpox prevention and control. They stress that the government is still totally dedicated to protecting public health and will use the knowledge gained from past outbreaks like COVID-19 and Ebola to successfully handle the current crisis.
Health officials are urging all citizens to contribute to keeping the outbreak from getting worse. Ghana wants to stop the spread of Mpox and safeguard the health and safety of all citizens via further efforts by the government and medical experts.
