Ghana Moves Over 100 Refugees After Buduburam Demolition
Following the demolition of the Buduburam settlement, Tetteh Paddie, Executive Secretary of the Ghana Refugee Board, announced the successful relocation of over 100 refugees.
The demolition displaced numerous residents, prompting swift action to assist affected individuals.
In an interview with Citi News, Paddie clarified that while most inhabitants at Buduburam are not formally recognized as refugees, approximately 150 individuals who still hold refugee status have been relocated to a camp in the Western Region.
Paddie further explained that the majority of former residents, who had opted to remain in Ghana after their refugee status ended, are now considered regular Liberian nationals rather than refugees.
