First Batch of Ghanaian Pilgrims Arrive Safely in Saudi Arabia for 2025 Hajj as Government Ensures Comprehensive Support

In preparation for the holy Hajj trip in 2025, the first group of 425 Muslim pilgrims from Ghana’s five northern districts has successfully arrived in Jedda, Saudi Arabia. Ghana’s involvement in this year’s Hajj ceremonies officially began with this milestone. On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the pilgrims were taken straight from Tamale’s Yakubu Tali International Airport. About 6,000 Ghanaian pilgrims are anticipated to make the journey this year, which represents a substantial rise from the 4,000 participants from the northern part of the country last year.
Key government representatives, including the Northern Regional Minister Adolf Ali John, the Minister of the Interior Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the Chairman of the Interim Hajj Taskforce Alhaji Collins Dauda, and the Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, paid the pilgrims a visit at the Tamale airport to say goodbye and offer words of encouragement as part of a coordinated effort.
Alhaji Dauda counseled the tourists to keep their composure, follow Saudi Arabian law, and concentrate on their spiritual duties. In order to guarantee a seamless and significant pilgrimage, he assured the group that extensive safety and welfare precautions had been organized. Among the amenities are daily meals during their stay in Madina and standard hotel rooms in Mecca.
Muntaka, the minister of interior, wished the pilgrims well and emphasized that the temporary taskforce had taken all necessary steps to ensure their safety and comfort. He urged everyone to pray for peace, unity, and the advancement of the country during this spiritual journey.
The pilgrims were also instructed by the Northern Regional Minister on the essential religious prerequisites for a successful Hajj. Many of the pilgrims who were leaving acknowledged the better standards and coordination and conveyed gratitude for the smooth arrangements made by the Hajj committee and related agents.
This successful first departure sets the tone for subsequent groups, reinforcing Ghana’s commitment to facilitating a safe and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience.
