Ghana’s FDA Issues Warning on Unapproved Body Enhancement Products Promoted on Social Media
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) of Ghana has issued a warning about unapproved body enhancement products being advertised on social media.
In response to a social media post highlighting the promotion of these products by a Ghanaian entertainer, the FDA urged the public to refrain from purchasing them, emphasizing that no product for body enlargement has been approved by the FDA.

The FDA clarified that their authority does not cover products making spiritual claims, as per the law. This warning comes in the midst of a rise in social media advertising for unapproved products, including slimming teas, aphrodisiacs, teeth whiteners, and presumed intimacy enhancers like “kayanmata.”
The FDA is currently investigating these reports and plans to take action against distributors. It’s important to note that the efficacy of such products has not been scientifically proven, and there are concerns about potential harm to internal organs such as the kidneys.
