Ghana’s Largest Landfill Transformation: A Milestone in Waste Management

The transformation of the Kpone Landfill in Accra, Ghana, marks a pivotal moment in the country’s waste management journey. Once a major environmental challenge, this site has undergone extensive decommissioning and reengineering to become a modern, sustainable waste management facility.

The landfill, previously plagued by issues such as uncontrolled waste disposal and health risks for nearby communities, has been reengineered using advanced technology with support from American partners.

This project is part of Ghana’s broader agenda to enhance environmental infrastructure and mitigate the adverse effects of poorly managed waste.
