The Forum for Accountability and Justice (FAAJ) has called for the immediate dismissal of Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo, the Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), due to a controversial sale of SSNIT hotels to Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong.

In a statement released on Thursday, May 30, FAAJ expressed disappointment over Osafo-Maafo’s silence on halting the sale process, despite allegations of irregularities and unconstitutional procedures.

The group alleged that Osafo-Maafo has been focused on selling off the hotels to his party affiliates since his appointment as Deputy Director-General in charge of Investment & Development. FAAJ also accused him of ignoring the demands of Ghanaian workers and evading investigations by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ). The group contends that his actions represent a larger scheme of state capture, which must be opposed by all concerned citizens.

FAAJ has urged the appointing authorities to immediately remove Osafo-Maafo from his position and halt the sale of the hotels, arguing that it is not in the best interest of the Ghanaian people.

The group has also threatened to organize demonstrations to demand accountability and justice if their demands are not met.

“While we count on the President not to embolden the perceived ‘Clearing Agent’ tag by refusing to act on our call and that being echoed by many well-meaning Ghanaians in the interest of accountability and justice, we serve notice of our intention to contribute and collaborate with all individuals and groups to engage in a series of serious demonstrations to demand Accountability and Justice in the name and interest of our motherland, Ghana.”
