Guinness World Records Challenges Chef Smith’s Cooking Record: Fact Check Revealed!”
Guinness World Records (GWR) has discredited the certificate displayed by Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith, known as Chef Smith, claiming it is forged.
Despite Chef Smith’s assertions of holding the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), GWR clarified that they were unaware of his attempt and that the certificate he presented is not authentic.
In response to a query from GraphicOnline’s Justice Agbenorsi, GWR’s official account on X (formerly Twitter) stated, “No, this is not true. Chef Smith does not hold the GWR title and that is not our certificate.”
GWR further confirmed that the legitimate record for the longest cooking marathon is currently held by Alan Fisher of Ireland, who cooked for 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds in Japan from September 28 to October 3, 2023.
Notably, upon closer inspection, differences were found between Chef Smith’s certificate and authentic GWR certificates. For example, the certificate for Nigerian chef Hilda Baci correctly mentioned her country and used the abbreviated time format “hr” and “min,” while Chef Smith’s certificate spelled out “hours” and “minutes” in full. This revelation casts doubt on Chef Smith’s claims and underscores the importance of verifying records with the official Guinness World Records organization
