“I’d Prefer Investing GH₵50,000 in My Soul Over Body Enhancement,” Says Celestine Donkor
Celestine Donkor chooses to invest GH₵50,000 in nurturing her soul over body enhancement procedures. Explore her perspective on self-care.
Ghanaian gospel singer Celestine Donkor isn’t supportive of the widespread trend of body enhancement among female celebrities in the entertainment industry. She emphasized the importance of spiritual growth and prioritizing matters of the soul over physical alterations.
During her appearance on Hitz FM’s morning show Daybreak Hitz on April 25, 2024, Celestine Donkor expressed to host Doreen Avio that she prioritizes investing in things that nurture her soul over considering any alterations to her body. She emphasized that as a minister, she believes in channeling resources towards spiritual growth rather than physical enhancements. Donkor stated that even though physical appearance may seem important, ultimately, the body will perish, and she chooses to focus on matters of eternal significance.
“The one that will not die is your soul. So we spend time in looking good and the soul looks terrible. If you have a perfect combination of the two, praise Jesus for you.Â
But to invest so much in looking good, appearing good and your soul is dying, it’s really a sad thing to happen to happen to a human being. Because the worthless creature after death is the human body. Even goats when they die they have value because we use them in our soup,” she said.
Celestine acknowledged that there are exceptions, such as women facing health complications that necessitate surgical procedures, who may be justified in seeking body enhancements. She recognizes that in certain cases, medical intervention is warranted for the well-being of individuals.
“If your health is not at risk, you are not in danger because of your weight, there is a way you can manage your diet, and walk and be in shape, go for that one. If your weight is a danger to your health, your life is at risk, it’s okay to go for surgery; that’s a life saver. Because if I had not gone under knives for my kids, they would have died in my womb,” she said.
Celestine also mentioned that despite being a plus-size woman, she is actively engaged, maintains good health, and possesses confidence in her personality. She emphasized that one’s size does not define their worth or abilities, and she embraces herself fully regardless of societal standards.
