In a recent verdict that underscored the importance of truth and accountability, the Awutu Breku District Court rendered its judgment on a bizarre case involving a student falsely accused of causing a tricycle rider’s penis to shrink in Kasoa. The court, presided over by Mrs. Naomi A. A. Kuntour, heard the case which led to the sentencing of one individual to imprisonment, with fines and compensation ordered for others involved.

The perpetrators, identified as Zakaria Zulkani, Seidu Abdul Nasir, and Innusah Musah, all tricycle riders and residents of Walantu, Kasoa, orchestrated an assault on Abdul Suleman, a student from Kojo-Oku, Gomoa Nyanyano. The incident unfolded on March 31, 2024, around 11:00 am, when Suleman boarded Zulkani’s tricycle from Kasoa to Millennium City junction.

Upon reaching a stop near the Ghana Revenue Office, a seemingly routine ride took a bizarre turn. Zulkani, amidst a phone call and a pause to relieve himself, accused Suleman of causing his penis to shrink. This false accusation escalated quickly as Zulkani enlisted Nasir and Musah to join him in assaulting Suleman, who was left defenseless until the timely intervention of the Central East Police Patrol Team.

Following the incident, medical examination revealed the falsity of Zulkani’s claim regarding his genitalia, further underscoring the absurdity of the situation. The court, in its wisdom, delivered a series of judgments reflective of the severity of the offense and the level of culpability of each individual involved.

Zakaria Zulkani, the instigator of the false accusation, received a sentence of four months imprisonment. In addition to the jail term, he was ordered to pay fines totaling GH₵3,600 for charges including publication of false news and deceiving a public officer. Moreover, Zulkani must sign a bond committing to good behavior for the next 12 months.

Seidu Abdul Nasir, while admitting guilt with an explanation, received a caution and discharge for his involvement in the conspiracy to commit a crime. However, he was fined GH₵1,800 for assault and ordered to compensate the victim with GH₵2,400. Nasir, like Zulkani, must also adhere to a 12-month good behavior bond.

Innusah Musah, another accomplice in the assault, received a similar caution and discharge for assault but was fined GH₵1,800 for conspiracy to commit a crime. He, too, was ordered to compensate the victim with GH₵2,400 and adhere to a 12-month good behavior bond.

The court’s verdict sends a clear message about the consequences of spreading falsehoods and resorting to violence based on unfounded accusations. It reaffirms the importance of upholding truth and integrity within society, even in the face of bizarre and baseless claims.

Beyond the legal ramifications, the case serves as a reminder of the dangers of mob mentality and the importance of due process in resolving disputes. By holding individuals accountable for their actions, the court has not only delivered justice to the victim but also reaffirmed the principles of fairness and equity in the administration of law.

The  shrinking penis incident, while peculiar and sensational, has been met with a firm and just response from the judicial system. Through its verdict, the court has upheld the values of truth, accountability, and justice, setting a precedent for similar cases in the future.
