The 15-year-old adolescent in the Kasoa Juvenile Murder Case is pleading forgiveness after he was sentenced to 12 months in prison after the adolescent Court in Accra found him guilty of planning with another youngster to kill a 10-year-old boy in Kasoa for a money ritual.

The 15-year old  was asked whether he had anything to say before the presiding judge handed him the jail sentence. With tears in his eyes and an expression of regret, the prisoner begged the judge to pardon him.

“It was not my intention to kill my dear friend and to also end his life this way. I pray the court would forgive all my sins and give me a second chance.”

He also begged the father of the deceased to pardon him.

“Ishmael (dead) and I have played together for a long time .I never planned to kill him. It was the devil,”

According to the sitting judge, Bernice Mensimah Ackon, the defendant was arrested in April 2021 and will turn 19 this year. According to the Judge, the 15-year old has completed his three year term as required under the juvenile Justice Act 2003 (ACT 653).

However, given the seriousness of the offense, the juvenile’s statement that he left school at Basic 6, and his desire to pursue a technical career, she said the court would sentence him to a year in a senior correctional facility to pursue his lifelong dream. He will be serving his jail term in the Senior Correctional Facility.
