Ken Ofori-Atta Declared Wanted by Special Prosecutor Over Corruption Allegation

Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been formally designated a wanted fugitive by Ghana’s Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for allegedly eluding corruption investigations. At a news conference in Accra, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng delivered the announcement and underlined that Ofori-Atta has not cooperated with current investigations into financial malfeasance.
Agyebeng claims that numerous attempts to involve Ofori-Atta in the investigations have failed. According to authorities, the former minister fled the nation to avoid being investigated by the law.
Ken Ofori-Atta must present himself to the Office of the Special Prosecutor immediately. Failure to do so will result in further legal actions, including international enforcement measures,” the Special Prosecutor warned.
According to media sources, the Special Prosecutor denied allegations that on February 11, 2025, OSP agents raided Ofori-Atta’s residence. Agyebeng explained that these claims were untrue and deceptive, implying that they were disseminated on purpose to undermine the OSP’s reputation and sabotage the inquiry.
At least five high-profile corruption cases including financial mismanagement, procurement violations, and suspected misappropriation of state funds during Ofori-Atta’s time as Finance Minister are now being investigated. Calls for accountability and transparency in Ghana’s public financial management system have been louder as a result of these accusations.
