Speaking during his 64th birthday celebration on June 16, 2024, Agyapong emphasized that resigning from the party or running independently would be unwise and reiterated his allegiance to the NPP.

Agyapong recently finished second to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia in the NPP’s presidential primary held in November. Although he previously stated in February that he would not be heavily involved in Bawumia’s campaign, he was later seen supporting the Vice President on the campaign trail in the Ashanti Region.

In his birthday speech, Agyapong called for unity among NPP supporters, urging them to put aside divisions and work together to secure victory in the 2024 general election.

He stressed that there should be no factions within the party, and used his birthday as an occasion to advocate for reconciliation among his supporters and those of Dr. Bawumia, emphasizing the importance of presenting a united front for the NPP’s success. Agyapong’s call for unity underscores his dedication to the party and highlights his role in fostering internal harmony as the NPP gears up for the forthcoming elections.
