Koo Fori Denies $50K Fraud, Granted ₵320K Bail in Court
Actor Koo Fori Pleads Not Guilty to $50K Fraud Allegation, Secures ₵320K Bail at Dansoman Circuit Court.

Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, a veteran comedian and performer from Ghana, has entered a not guilty plea to allegations of cheating a Ghanaian resident in the United States out of $50,000. After being taken into custody by the Accra Central Police Command on Friday, May 9, he made an appearance before the Dansoman Circuit Court on Monday, May 12, 2025. Known for his part in the hit sitcom Efiewura, Koo Fori was accused of defrauding under false pretenses. He was granted GH₵320,000 bail by the court, subject to the provision of three sureties.
Under the pretense of using the funds for a legal business endeavor, the actor allegedly stole $50,000 from a Ghanaian resident of California, according to police investigations. But after getting the money, Koo Fori allegedly abandoned the investment plan and disappeared, disregarding the victim’s repeated attempts to get the money back. After several unsuccessful attempts to get in touch with the actor, the complainant—whose identity has been kept private—filed an official complaint with police enforcement. Koo Fori also disregarded a court summons to appear before the Dansoman District Court on April 17, 2025, according to additional inquiry. The court issued a bench warrant for his arrest since he did not comply with the summons.
Because of Koo Fori’s well-known status in the entertainment sector, the case has attracted public attention. As the court looks to determine the facts behind the charges, legal proceedings will continue in the upcoming weeks. The Ghana Police Service has advised people to exercise caution when making investments, particularly when they are big sums of money, and to confirm the legitimacy of such agreements before sending money.
