Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, has stated that leaving his role as Majority Leader was the best choice he has ever made.

The MP from Suame claimed that keeping the Majority front in Parliament united was his main driving force.

For the first time since he announced his resignation in February, Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu spoke with media in Kumasi and stated he had no regrets.He declared that he is committed to making sure Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia wins the presidency in the elections scheduled for December.On February 21, 2024, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu announced his resignation as majority leader following a meeting at the Jubilee House with some New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership.

“The major project ahead of us is breaking the eight and the project that I believe in is getting [Dr. Mahamudu] Bawumia elected as the president of this country and I don’t want to be part of anything that will obstruct that or negatively impact that, I don’t want to be part of it. I don’t want to be the eye of the storm and so I think it was the best decision I took.”

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Effutu Member of Parliament, took his seat.
