LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, made NBA history by becoming the first father-son pair to play together during the Los Angeles Lakers’ pre-season game against the Phoenix Suns. This milestone occurred when Bronny, on his 20th birthday, took to the court in the second quarter, though the Lakers eventually lost 118-114.

This marked the first time in NBA history that a father and son shared the court in any type of game, including pre-season. Reflecting on the moment, LeBron described it as a surreal experience. “We came out of a timeout and stood next to each other. It felt like being in The Matrix; it just didn’t feel real,” he told reporters after the game.

LeBron had a solid performance, scoring 19 points, along with four assists and five rebounds. Bronny, though scoreless in his 13 minutes of play, contributed with two rebounds but also had four turnovers. Bronny was drafted by the Lakers in the second round from the University of Southern California earlier in June.

At 39 years old, LeBron continues to make waves in the NBA, holding the record for all-time points scored and winning four NBA championships. He is now entering his 22nd season and signed a new two-year contract with the Lakers following Bronny’s draft to the team.

The 2024-25 NBA season is set to begin on October 22, with the Lakers facing the Minnesota Timberwolves, following a match between the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks.
