Lil Win’s Accident Case: Attorney General to Guide Prosecution
The prosecution has informed the court that they are awaiting advice from the Attorney General’s Office regarding the ongoing case involving popular Ghanaian actor and musician, Lil Win, following a tragic car accident.
The incident occurred on May 25, 2024, in Amakom, Kumasi, and resulted in the death of a three-year-old child. Lil Win was driving a branded Mercedes-Benz promoting his latest movie, ‘A Country Called Ghana,’ when the accident happened.
On June 3, Lil Win was taken into custody by the Manhyia Divisional Police Command but was subsequently released on bail set at GH¢50,000 with two sureties. The family of the deceased child has been actively seeking justice and urging for prompt legal action. During the court proceedings, Lil Win’s lawyer, Nana Bonsu Kyeretwie, emphasized the need for the Attorney General’s review to proceed.
He stated, “The prosecution must prove its case for us to have a case to answer before we can rebut any doubt that the police have created in this matter, but for now, we cannot speak to anything. We are only waiting for the Attorney General’s advice following his mandate.”
The prosecution confirmed that all relevant documents and evidence have been submitted to the Attorney General’s Office and that further steps in the case depend on their guidance.
