Linda Ocloo Pledges to Restore 70% of Accra’s Streetlights in 50 Days

Within the next 50 days, Linda Akweley Ocloo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, has boldly pledged to fix 70% of Accra’s broken lighting. This project is a component of a larger campaign to improve visibility and security in Ghana’s capital.
On Monday, February 3, 2025, Ocloo told reporters in Accra that one of her main objectives is repairing streetlights. She promised locals that under her direction, well-lit streets and other infrastructure upgrades would be addressed quickly.
“Within 50 days in office, I will ensure that at least 70% of the streetlights are fixed. These are critical areas we will be focusing on, and I am working closely with the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to achieve this,” she stated.

Ocloo’s vision for Accra still centers on security and sanitation, even in the absence of street lighting. In an effort to encourage cleanliness in the city, she declared that the Regional Sanitation Day will once again be observed. The cleanest city in the area will also be recognized through the introduction of an award program.
As part of the government’s larger “Resetting Agenda,” assistance will be provided to district and municipal assemblies so they can become financially independent.
Ocloo also promised to collaborate closely with religious institutions and traditional authority to advance decentralization and participatory governance. This cooperative strategy seeks to promote inclusive government and guarantee the effectiveness and impact of development initiatives.
