President John Dramani Mahama recently said in a nationwide speech on May 7, 2025, that his administration is looking into a number of high-profile agreements, such as the contentious Power Distribution Services (PDS) contract with the Electricity Company of Ghana. Mahama’s larger commitment to guaranteeing accountability in governance includes this action.

Allegations of procurement irregularities and a lack of rigorous due diligence brought the 2019 PDS agreement under intense scrutiny. The deal was finally revoked by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, but Mahama’s administration is currently looking into the issue again. In order to hold those accountable for any misconduct, Mahama underlined that the PDS contract is being investigated under the direction of the Minister of Energy and Green Transition.

“The PDS scandal is under review. Those responsible will face justice,” President Mahama declared, signaling his administration’s dedication to restoring public trust in governmental processes.

Mahama stated that his government is looking into a number of important issues in addition to the PDS inquiry, including as the distribution and utilization of COVID-19 relief monies, the National Cathedral project, and the failure of many domestic banks. Mahama revealed that the Attorney General has charged a former National Sports Authority officer for alleged financial irregularities, demonstrating his administration’s commitment to accountability and a major step in the fight against corruption.
