Mahama Pledges to Abolish Tax on Bet Winnings at Youth Town Hall Meeting
Former President John Mahama has announced that, if elected in the upcoming December 7, 2024, election, his administration will seek alternatives to the controversial tax on betting winnings. Speaking at a town hall meeting with youth in Accra, Mahama also reiterated his commitment to abolishing the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy), which he criticized for failing to meet revenue expectations and burdening citizens.
Mahama assured the youth that his government would focus on creating job opportunities and addressing key concerns such as unemployment and underemployment. He also highlighted the importance of digital skills, pledging to support digital startups and train one million young Ghanaians in coding.
